If you own a Jacuzzi® or Sundance® hot tub, the FROG® @ease system is your go-to solution for stress-free water care. Designed specifically for these spas, this system takes the guesswork out of maintaining clean, balanced, and enjoyable hot tub water. Whether you’re setting it up for the first time or keeping up with regular maintenance, this guide will help you every step of the way.

Why It Matters: Many hot tub owners struggle with unclear water, chemical imbalances, or confusing maintenance routines. The FROG® @ease system simplifies all of this—so you can spend less time testing and tweaking, and more time soaking and relaxing.

Getting Started (Start-Up Steps)

Before You Begin:

  • Have a our friendly water care specialists analyze your water sample any of our Galaxy showrooms.
  • Make sure all your hot tub equipment is in good working order.

Making a Switch? If you’re switching to FROG®@ease from bromine or biguanide, you’ll want to be sure to replace your filter and drain/refill your hot tub with fresh water. This will ensure that a negative reaction does not effect your water quality.

1. Test and Balance Your Water:

  • Alkalinity: 50–90 ppm
  • pH: 7.2–7.8
  • Calcium Hardness: 100–400 ppm

2. Set the Cartridges:

  • Set your Mineral Cartridge (Blue) dial to “7”.
  • Set your SmartChlor® Cartridge (Silver) dial setting according to your hot tub model and size.

3. Install the Cartridges

  • Jacuzzi®:
    • If the Jacuzzi® FROG®@ease Holder is already installed, remove the holder.
    • Insert the Mineral cartridge into the lower opening and SmartChlor® cartridge into the upper opening.
    • Slide the holder over the filter without the center grid, then rotate and secure.
  • Sundance®:
    • If the Sundance® FROG®@ease Holder is not already installed, install the holder.
    • Slide the holder down over the pipe where the filter sits.
    • Insert Mineral cartridge closest to the hot tub’s outside and SmartChlor® cartridge closest to the inside.

Cartridge Replacement Schedule

  • Mineral Cartridge (Blue): Replace every 4 months or when draining/refilling your spa. The FROG® @ease System Box: includes (1) Mineral Cartridge, (1) SmartChlor® Cartridge, FROG® @ease Test Strips, and FROG Jump Start® Shock.
  • SmartChlor® Cartridge (Silver): Replace when empty, about every 4 weeks. SmartChlor® Cartridge Refills are available in packs of 3.
  • Use FROG® @ease Test Strips to check your SmartChlor® levels (lighter color than “out” = needs replacing). FROG® @ease Test Strips are included in the FROG® @ease System Box.

Routine Maintenance Schedule

Weekly

  • Test water for pH, alkalinity, SmartChlor® levels, and calcium hardness.
  • After using your hot tub:

Missed a week? Don’t panic. Just shock your water with Galaxy Oxidizing Shock, test your SmartChlor® levels (replace if needed) and rebalance, and then resume your normal weekly routine. Always err on the side of caution—bacteria love warm, untreated water.

Every Month

Every 3-4 Months

  • Replace your Mineral Cartridge (Silver) every 3-4 months. The FROG® @ease System Box includes: (1) Mineral Cartridge, (1) SmartChlor® Cartridge, FROG® @ease Test Strips, and FROG Jump Start® Shock.
  • Deep clean your spa by draining, scrubbing, and refilling. If you’d rather not DIY, Galaxy’s expert team can handle it for you with their Super Clean Service.

Every Year

  • Replace your UV bulb if your spa uses one (Jacuzzi & Sundance = yearly; Nordic & CalSpas = every 2–3 years).
  • Replace your spa filters.
  • Clean diverter valves and jets with a diluted Stain & Scale Preventer solution.
  • Got a different brand of hot tub? Don’t worry if you have a different brand—these tips apply to all hot tubs using the FROG® @ease system.

Helpful Tips & Common Mistakes to Avoid

Cloudy or Hazy Water?

  • Balance your pH and alkalinity.
  • Add Galaxy Oxidizing Shock (1 oz per 50 gallons), run jets, and keep the cover open for 30 minutes.
  • If it’s still cloudy, add Galaxy Clarifier (1 oz per 500 gallons).

Dealing with Foam?

  • Rinse off body products before entering and use a spa-only swimsuit.
  • If foam shows up, use Galaxy Foam Out.

Watch Your Water Level:

  • Keep water above the filter intake. If it’s low, top it off with a garden hose.
