A spa cover has a harder job than it gets credit for. It helps hold in heat, keeps debris out and sits outside through sun, rain and changing temperatures. Then it has to be manageable every time you want to use the water.
That is why a replacement hot tub cover has to do more than look right. It needs to fit the spa and sit properly around the corners and any raised features. The wrong size or configuration can turn what should be a straightforward replacement into a frustrating purchase.
At Galaxy, the process begins with your spa’s make, model and serial number. We first check whether the correct replacement cover is available through the spa manufacturer. If it isn’t, or if you want a different option such as a custom or roll-away cover, we can help you explore the alternatives.
Is it time to replace your spa cover?
A cover changes gradually, so it is not always obvious when it has reached the end of its useful life. It may be time to start looking at replacement options if your cover:
- Feels much heavier than it used to
- Sags or allows water to collect on top
- Has torn, cracked or damaged exterior material
- Has broken handles, straps or hinges
- No longer sits evenly on the spa
- Has become difficult for you to open and close safely
You do not have to wait until the cover becomes unusable. Manufacturer, special-order and custom covers can take time to arrive, so beginning the process while your current cover is still functional can make the transition much easier.
Start with a manufacturer replacement cover
When the correct cover is still available through the spa manufacturer, that is where we prefer to start. A manufacturer replacement is designed around the original dimensions and features of a particular model, which takes much of the guesswork out of finding the right fit.
Your serial number is especially helpful. Two spas can appear similar while having different corner shapes, dimensions, hinge locations or features that affect the cover. With the make, model and serial number, the Galaxy team can research the cover made for your spa before asking you to measure anything.
Depending on your spa and current availability, our cover sources may include Cal Spas, Jacuzzi®/Sundance®, Nordic, Marquis, End 2 End and Prestige Spas’ Core cover line. Supplier programs and availability can change, so we will confirm the current options for your specific spa.
What if the manufacturer cover is not available?
If we cannot get the correct cover through the manufacturer, you still have options. Galaxy can order a custom replacement cover made around the measurements and features of your spa.
A custom order involves more than choosing a general length and width. The cover may also need to account for:
- Square, rounded or cut corners
- Corner radius
- Skirt length
- Hinge location and opening direction
- Speakers or other raised features
- Unusual shapes or cutouts
Depending on the spa and the cover program, we may ask for measurements and photos or help arrange a professional measuring service. Taking the time to confirm these details before the order is placed helps prevent fit problems later.
Is a roll-away cover right for you?
Traditional spa covers fold along one or more hinges. A roll-away, sometimes called a rolling spa cover, rolls into a more compact shape as it opens.
That design may be worth considering if you frequently use the spa, usually open it by yourself or find a large traditional cover difficult to manage. Roll-away options can be especially helpful on swim spas, where the size of a traditional cover can make opening, closing and storage more cumbersome. Options are also available for many traditional hot tubs.
Available sizes and configurations vary. Some rolling-cover systems use a cradle or shelf to support the cover when it is open. Galaxy can help you check the fit, storage space and required accessories before you decide whether this style is right for your setup.

What information should you have ready?
Before requesting a replacement hot tub cover or swim spa cover, gather as much of the following information as you can:
- Spa manufacturer or brand
- Exact model name or number
- Serial number
- Photos of the full spa and existing cover
- Any speakers, raised controls or other features near the cover line
- Whether you want a standard replacement, custom cover or roll-away option
If you cannot find every detail, send what you have. We can let you know what else is needed after reviewing it.
Plan ahead for special-order and custom covers
Galaxy keeps select covers in stock, but many manufacturer, special-order and custom covers are ordered for a specific spa. Current lead times for special-order and custom covers generally range from 4 to 12 weeks, so it is smart to begin early if you want a new cover in place before colder weather arrives.
Hot tub replacement covers start at $799. Final pricing depends on the spa, size, construction and cover style. We will confirm current pricing, availability and timing before your order is placed.
Let Galaxy help you find the right cover
You do not have to decide between a manufacturer replacement, custom cover and roll-away cover on your own. Send us your spa’s make, model and serial number along with any photos or details you have. We will check the manufacturer option first, then help you review custom or roll-away alternatives if needed.
Hot tub cover pricing begins at $799 as of September 2026. Pricing, availability, supplier programs and lead times are subject to change. Special-order and custom cover lead times generally range from 4 to 12 weeks. Measuring services and mileage fees may apply.
