EMF AND INFRARED SAUNAS

Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) are defined as fields that are produced by electrically charged objects, which then affect the behavior of charged objects in the vicinity of its field. Electromagnetic fields are the result of any electronic device with active circuits running through it. There has been much debate about whether or not EMF is harmful to your health, but after researching the subject extensively I concluded that it is something to avoid if possible, particularly in infrared saunas, and especially when low EMF options are available.

In the 2001 study, “ELF Electromagnetic Fields and the Risk of Cancer,” there are findings that showed heavy average exposures of EMF is associated with a doubling of the risk leukemia in children under the age of 15 (California EMF Risk Evaluation June 2002. pg 167). In the 2002 study, “An Evaluation of the Possible Risks From Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMFs) From Power Lines, Internal Wiring, Electrical Occupations and Appliances,” it was found that “to one degree or another, all three of the DHS scientists are inclined to believe that EMFs can cause some degree of increased risk of child-hood leukemia, adult brain cancer, Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and miscarriage.” (California EMF Risk Evaluation June 2002. Table 21.1)

As shown in the studies, it’s likely that children are at increased risk for cancer when exposed to high EMF. Given this evidence, the logical conclusion is that the less EMF present in saunas, the better. Because infrared saunas are electrical devices, however, you can never get the EMF to 0.0. The good news is that there are now infrared saunas available that keep their EMF at the 2 – 3 mG range. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has proposed a safety standard of 3 mG, as anything below 3 mGs is currently deemed to be safe.

You can feel safe knowing that Galaxy’s ULTRA LOW EMF infrared saunas run between 1-3 mG.
